A NUMBER of celebrities have been vocal about their struggle with hair loss.
Danielle Lineker, who last year married BBC’s Match Of The Day presenter Gary, recently spoke out about the trauma of losing her hair as a teenager.
The new Mrs Lineker, 30, said she lost most of the hair on top of her head for about seven months when aged 16.
The model put the distressing condition down to stress as it fell out while she was sitting her GCSEs and said she had to resort to a “comb-over” to cover it.
TV presenter Gail Porter has become a standard-bearer for alopecia sufferers after being struck by the condition five years ago.
Instead of wearing a wig, Porter was proud to be seen with a bald head.
But the 38-year-old made the news earlier this year when her hair was photographed growing back, although in a patchy fashion.
Male celebrities have also spoken candidly about their baldness, with sports stars Shane Warne, Graham Gooch and Austin Healey making the headlines. Singer Elton John is believed to have undergone hair implant surgery.
